Our link with Uganda through started in 2017 with Rwamahano and Murubindi primary schools in mountainous, rural south-west Uganda where the Batwa people live in challenging geographical and economic circumstances. We channel our funding through Christian Development Uganda (Charity No: 1011451).

Our past fundraising projects have included:

2018 Solar panels for Rwamahano school

2019 School lunches for children at both schools

2020 Home learning packs for KS2 children at both schools

Coronavirus impact

Schools in Uganda suffered the longest lockdown closure of any country and when schools were finally allowed to open, unfortunately Rwamahano and Murubindi did not. Word and Deed Uganda, the NGO in Uganda, have visited the Batwa communities and enrolled the children into a range of alternative local primary schools. A large number (over 50) of the children from Murubindi are now attending Kacerere Primary School. We have been in touch with the headteacher of Kacerere and have agreed to transfer our appeal target to Kacerere Primary School.

Our Latest Appeal

Our current appeal is to raise £1,500 to put a climbing frame and swing at Kacerere school. There are no playgrounds in the area and the children would benefit enormously from the enjoyment such equipment would bring.

We value this link with schools in Uganda very highly as it benefits us all: the children in Uganda benefit from practical assistance; and children in Stanton Harcourt benefit from a window into the wider world and the lives of others.

Please support our fundraising events over the next weeks and months. If you would like to make a one-off donation to our appeal, please use this link:
